Aqua Aerobics classes are free for Health Club and Pool members! Community members and the general public can purchase a guest pass. To purchase a guest pass, please contact personalservice@mmjccm.org.

Class Offerings

Aquability Flex – Training Pool
This class incorporates strength, cardio, and Pilates-based movements for a full-body workout suitable for all fitness levels. Benefits include:

  • Building muscular and cardiovascular endurance
  • Increasing balance and flexibility
  • Low-impact, joint-friendly exercises in warm water

Winter Schedule:

  • Mondays: 16 sessions, Jan 26–Jun 1 (except Feb 16, Apr 6, May 25)
    • 6–6:45 pm or 6:45–7:30 pm (Instructor: Lisa Veshecco)
  • Thursdays: 16 sessions, Jan 22–Jun 4 (except Feb 19, Apr 2 & 9, May 21)
    • 6–6:45 pm + 6:45–7:30 pm (Instructor: TBD)
Aqua Aerobics – Main Pool
A full-body water workout focused on cardio and strength training, adaptable for all levels and mobility ranges. No prior experience required. Benefits include:

  • Improving cardiovascular fitness
  • Building strength and endurance
  • Fun, low-impact movement in the water

Winter Schedule:

  • Tuesdays: 18 sessions, Jan 20–Jun 2 (except Feb 17, Apr 7)
    • 10:05–11 am + 11:05–noon (Instructor: Lisa Veshecco)
  • Thursdays: 17 sessions, Jan 22–Jun 4 (except Feb 19, Apr 2 & 9, May 21)
    • 10:05–11 am + 11:05–noon (Instructor: Lisa Veshecco)
  • Fridays: 16 sessions, Jan 23–Jun 5 (except Feb 20, Apr 3 & 10, May 22)
    • 12–1 pm + 1:05–2 pm (Instructor: Twain Revell)

Instructors

William Madera (Aqua Aerobics + Flex)
He is an AEA-certified water aerobics instructor, and ARC Lifeguard, who has dedicated nearly 30 years to the field of Aquatics, working with clients of all ages, from as young as 4 months to 97 years. He has taught for the MS Society and the Arthritis Foundation, trained individuals for triathlons, and coached swim teams where his focus has always been on ensuring safety, fostering positivity, and creating a happy, informed environment. He brings his unique style and energy to every class with a deep love for music, he curates playlists that perfectly match the vibe of his Aqua Aerobics sessions, ensuring every participant leaves feeling rejuvenated and connected to the water. For William, aquatics is not just about swimming; it’s about love, respect, trust, and helping individuals conquer their fears. Beyond his aquatic career, William is also a talented artist and also organizes events that showcase various forms of art, music, dance, poetry, spoken word, and food, bringing together a vibrant community of creatives.

Robin Mandel (Aquability Flex)
Robin is an expert certified Fitour Advanced Aqua Instructor with decades of experience teaching water fitness in NYC. Robin has many certifications in health and wellness, including but not limited to nutrition, mobility, spinal stabilization, and body mechanics that add to her insight and wide range of teaching skills. Her expansive background with knowledge about anatomy, mental health, and fitness lends to unique and catered aqua fitness classes that leave her students feeling fulfilled, seen, and empowered! Robin is an energetic, positive, and passionate water aerobics instructor who will always encourage her students to be their best selves both in and out of the pool!

Twain Revell (Aqua Aerobics)
Twain is an incredible, multi-talented, AEA-certified water aerobics instructor with decades of experience teaching at well-known and reputable facilities all around NYC. She teaches a variety of unique and exciting water exercise classes such as arthritis, aerobics, aqua kickboxing, aqua barre, aqua boot camp, and water tether classes! Twain is intuitive, knowledgeable, and passionate about what she does and makes sure each of her students grows in their ability and strength all while sharing unique tips and modifications to make each class catered to her participants!

Lisa Veshecco (Aqua Aerobics)
Lisa finds incredible joy in dance and movement and has been bringing that passion to her teaching, coaching and training in multiple formats with many populations in the Fitness Industry for over 35 years. In 2015 after experiencing dance injuries in both hips, Lisa was delighted to find the joy and athleticism that she values in a workout, in water based classes. She brings high energy safety, fun, and inspiration to her multi-level classes with a strong focus on intention and posture & alignment. Lisa has a BA in Dance Education, held many certificates over the years, is certified with AEA, ACE Group Fitness and teaches inspiring land and water based classes throughout Manhattan.

How to Register

Registration for the classes above must be done online by making a reservation through the JCC’s MindBody portal, accessible via this page or the JCC/Mindbody app, downloadable at Apple Store or Google Play. Classes will be available for registration online starting at midnight the day before the class. Find these classes under the “Main Pool” tab on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the “Training Pool” tab on Mondays. Please note that while you’ll be able to see the class listed ahead of time, registration will only open at midnight the day before the class. Once you make your reservation, you will receive an email confirmation.

As space is limited and to accommodate the most swimmers, members can only sign up for one class per day and will be canceled out of a second class if a double booking occurs. Also, please take the time to review our Aquatics Code of Conduct.
